Olé, Olé, Olé! The World Cup is in full swing – and so is Doo.
Applause, clapping, and cheers. The 2022 FIFA World Cup kicked off with its “Hayya Hayya” theme song last month. While everyone is in the mood for football, we hosted our first ever friendship football match, Doo Cup, on 11th December 2022, against Red Galacticos, a grassroot sports club based in Shah Alam, Malaysia.
Just one week before the World Cup final, Doo Cup was played out on a spacious rooftop field on a wonderful Sunday evening. While team Red Galacticos was dressed in their own club jersey, our DOOers were wearing our iconic red crossover jersey with our sponsored football club, Adelaide United Football Club (AUFC). The colour red not only represented Doo, but also the passion and enthusiasm of DOOers!
The match began once the whistle blew. It was fiery, it was thrilling, it was a competitive game! DOOers and Red Galacticos went all out for a win, with aggression and tenacity. Yet, we have witnessed the spirit of teamwork and collaborative at the same time, showing the beauty of sportsmanship.
The friendly match was a great chance to strengthen bonds among employees – we hope every DOOer felt included and engaged in this big family. Most importantly, it was a unique opportunity to spread the festive football cheer with the local community.
Apart from playing with Red Galacticos, we have also organized a penalty shootout challenge session for the lady players. A practice session was also provided prior, in order to familiarise the team with the basic penalty kick techniques before entering the battle.
The three and a half hours event concluded with prizes presented to the winners. It was an unforgettable day full of effort, fun and laughter. Once again, we would like to congratulate all the winners and a big thank you to everyone! What an awesome game!
